Illustrations for 'A Fish May Marry A Bird'

I was lucky to have an opportunity to illustrate for the beautiful fic A Fish May Marry A Bird (Snape/ Firenze)
(linked to HP_Beholder) written by the inimitable Lookfar, whose fine writing and insight to characters always leave me in awe.
Even if it's not a pairing you're familiar with, I'd strongly recommend the story.

It took me several days to decide on the composition of the second picture and less than 3 minutes for the first one. But I still prefer the first pic. Quite typical, really.

I prefer Snape in the second pic, though. Even with his hair, in some vague way he reminds me of Nosferatu in the '20s movie. The cutest vampire evar to grace the silver screen.

As I Commented on Beholder, these are just exquisite. I have been haunted by these images, and I find myself taking some time out of each day to look at them again.

The fic this illustrates is sublime (and equally haunting), but I admit that I wouldn't have read it had I not seen these illustrations accompanying it. So thank you for drawing me in to a stunning marriage of art and prose.

The tenderness you've captured just wrings my heart. Firenze is so magnificently strong, graceful and gentle. And Severus...god, he's so beautifully vulnerable...as your Severus always is. I'm so absolutely hooked on your art.

And I am really not particularly into Slash - I don't have anything against it, but it doesn't usually engage me - but I am utterly enthralled by every one of your illustrations.

Do you have an online gallery beyond what you have here on IJ? I would love to see anything you've created - fanart or otherwise.

It means everything to me that the illustrations harmonise with Lookfar's beautiful fic. And I'm immensely flattered that you like the pics, and that you enjoyed my fanart even though you're not into slash.
It's very encouraging to know that you could feel the tenderness because I don't draw it often. Thank you.
I'm afraid I don't have any presentable online gallery as yet but I'll build a nice one up someday and invite you. In the meantime (I'm supposing you had a look around at my journal but), if you're interested, you can see all my fanart at my meagre LJ gallery. :-)

Oh, I saw this on HP Beholder and actually commented (I think... Yikes, did I?), but I'd like to say again in case I didn't how much the art in this was wonderful. It perfectly illustrated the words, and Firenze.. *drools*

Your Snape, as usual, is ten kinds of awesome. And he does look like Nosferatu! *goes to hunt the movie*

Actually, I'm off to re-read the fic now! It was such a pleasure to have it illustrated, and with such talent.

You never fail to leave me speechless.

My honest first reaction to the post was 'Oh no. Ick. Eek.' etc, but because I know your art is gorgeous, no matter the subject, I clicked.

I'm happily ready to accept Snape/Firenze as my new OTP if there were fics out there that made me feel this for the pairing. Sweet and melancholy. That's what I get. You've always drawn such a vulnerable, quiet, possible Snape, and Firenze's pose in the second is something to be admired - I can't imagine how difficult it was to find a position that allowed his form to remain graceful.

God, I'm glad I got back on IJ...

(And I'm hopping over to the fic straight away!)

When Lookfar approached me with the fic I didn't know what to expect from the pairing but I should have known.. it was quite wonderful. I'm glad you feel the same. I don't know if you read this, dear, as you quite disappeared lately but I can't help asking: wouldn't you consider signing up for the Snarry Games? (Signing up will be closed soon but think about it and ask Djin if you would) Pls... I dont want to push but I love your art and I have withdrawal symptoms craving for that beautifully blushing ivory skin of your Severus. *sighslongingly*
